Enlightenment

The enlightened state is more like a peak experience which may or may not result in enlightenment.  Enlightenment is a permanent irreversible state.  The most fundamental thing regarding enlightenment is that the personal suffering is gone; suffering is there but is no longer personal.

Liberation From Work

There is a difference between activity and action.  The current work general present in today’s society is a product of fear, insecurity, boredom, and a need for survival.  When one is truly experiencing what they are doing that is action.  Work filled with action is meditation.  Work is no longer a chore, it is an experience.  When one has moved from activity to action, this is liberation from work.

Liberation from Society

Society is filled with many ideas and concepts.  They have their place, they are required for a society to exist. As societies evolve these concepts and ideas evolve.  We strive to achieve things which society in its current structure will appreciate.  As an example, one might want to be a teacher but the society conditions them to be a doctor.  Liberation from society is liberation from the fear of society.  One still understands and respects society but is no longer a prisoner.  One is no longer acting in fear but is acting in freedom.

Liberation from Conditioning

Socially, cultural structure, politics condition us (program us) to think in a certain manner.  We are ruled by a certain set of ideas, concepts, beliefs.

A fundamentalist is governed by a certain idea, a rationalist might reason something else but the fundamentalist can only see that idea and what is allowed by that idea.  There is only going to be one response no matter what reason or logic is used; that the rationalist is evil.  History is a rule of idea, civilizations arise and fall by with the birth and death of ideas.  Individuals are just mediums used by the ideas; they are conditioned, they can't see past the idea. We are ruled by these ideas.  Unless we are free, we really do not know what freedom is.  Just because we can move our arms around we think we are free.  Everybody wants to prove that what they believe is the best.

Freedom from condition is when we no longer are conditioned by our ideas.  The very act of seeing the ideas ruling our lives is freedom and these become knowledge.

For example, there are many stories of couples who say their lives were wonderful until they got married.  The moment they got married, one of them became a husband and the other a wife, and all the time they are making sure they fit the concept of a husband and a wife.  When some of these concepts don't work with the couple there is conflict.

Liberation from "knowledge"

This knowledge is not functional knowledge which allows us to drive our cars, paint our houses etc..

This knowledge is speculative, theoretical knowledge, knowledge about life, self, purpose, theoretical physics, things that we don't know. Such knowledge is an obstacle in knowing and experiencing things as they are.  We keep interpreting our experiences with our knowledge rather than seeing the experience for what it is.

Liberation from knowledge is liberation from knowledge that is not born from your experience.

Liberation from the Mind

Freedom is when we are free of the effort to change the mind.  The mind is like a tiger that we would like it to play with the rabbits.  The tiger can be trained to play with the rabbits but one day its instincts kick in!  Bhagavan says, "When the impossibility of change strikes you are enlightened".
